The Geography Network offers multiple ways to discover and access maps. Some maps can be explored online as dynamic maps using your Web browser or geographic information system (GIS) software, while others may be downloaded as static images and used with your favorite graphics applications.

Static Maps: Map image files you can preview online and download to your computer.
Map Files: Digital maps that can be viewed in a mapping application such as ArcReader or ArcExplorer--Java Edition, available free from ESRI.
Dynamic Data and Maps: Live map services that allow direct interaction with content. Data is delivered in one of two ways: as map images generated from data on the map server or as compressed vector features streamed into your GIS software.
